"The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy."

Matthew 22:8 Sound Devotional

Reflection

Jesus tells this parable as a prophetic warning and a gracious invitation. A King prepares a wedding feast for His Son—everything is ready, nothing is lacking, and joy is set in place. Yet the first invited guests refuse to come. They are too busy with fields, businesses, and personal pursuits to honor the King’s call. This reveals a sobering truth: proximity to invitation does not equal readiness of heart.

The King’s response is not cancellation, but expansion. The invitation moves from the elite to the open roads, from the expected to the overlooked. Good and bad alike are gathered. Grace opens the door wide. The wedding hall fills, not with the deserving, but with the willing. This is the gospel—salvation offered freely to all who will respond.

Yet the parable does not end there. The King notices a man without a wedding garment. He is present, but unprepared. He accepted the invitation, but not the transformation. The garment represents righteousness—not self-made, but provided by the King Himself. To refuse the garment is to dishonor the feast, to stand on personal merit rather than surrendered identity.

This is prophetic for the Church in this hour. Attendance is not intimacy. Gathering is not glory. We are invited not only to come, but to be clothed—to put on Christ, to wear humility, holiness, and obedience. The feast is joyful, but it is also holy.

Many are called, but few are chosen—not because God withholds, but because not all will yield. The chosen are those who respond fully: they come, they receive, and they are transformed.

Beloved, the feast is ready. The table is set. The garment is offered. Let us not only answer the call, but honor the King by wearing what He has freely given. This is a wedding of glory, and the Son is worthy.

Prayer

Father, we thank You for inviting us to the wedding feast of Your Son and
for clothing us with the righteousness of Christ. Thank You, Majestic Father,
for preparing our hearts to honor You fully. May we respond to Your call with
humility, obedience, and joy.

We honor You, Lord of the Banquet,
for inviting us to the wedding feast of Your glory. Amen
