"But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps."

Matthew 25:4 Sound Devotional

Reflection

The parable of the ten virgins is a prophetic mirror, but the Spirit draws our attention to the five who were wise. All were invited. All had lamps. All were waiting. Yet only five were prepared when the cry rang out at midnight.

This is a word for this hour: delay reveals depth. When the Bridegroom tarried, the difference was not seen—until the darkness came. Oil is not borrowed intimacy. Oil is not public performance. Oil is the secret place pressed into the soul through obedience, surrender, and daily fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

The wise understood something prophetic: encounter must be maintained. Yesterday’s fire will not light today’s path. They honored the waiting as much as the arrival. While others assumed proximity was enough, the wise invested in preparation. They guarded their oil because they valued the moment of His appearing.

The midnight cry is sudden, disruptive, and glorious. It separates appearance from substance. Lamps without oil may look right in the daylight, but darkness exposes what is real. This is not a message of fear—it is an invitation to intimacy. Heaven is calling for a people who will tend the flame, not just admire the lamp.

The door was shut not because the Bridegroom was cruel, but because the moment was holy. Readiness is a relationship, not a last-minute scramble. The wise entered into joy because they had already been living there in secret.

Beloved, check your vessel. Tend your oil. Stay awake in spirit even when the night grows long. The Bridegroom is closer than He appears.

Prayer

Heavenly Father of the Bride, thank You for filling our vessels afresh with the oil
of Your Spirit. Thank You, Father, for teaching us to watch, to wait, and to remain
ready. May our lamps burn bright, Lord Jesus, when You appear. In Your mercy,
keep us faithful in the secret place.
In the name of the Bridegroom, Amen
