"The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth."

Psalm 97:5 Sound Devotional

Reflection

Mountains in Scripture represent immovable things—ancient systems, entrenched powers, generational strongholds, and towering obstacles that dare to outlast God’s people. But Psalm 97:5 releases a holy announcement: no mountain is permanent when the Lord steps into the scene.

“…at the presence of the LORD…” This is not about force; it is about proximity. God does not wrestle mountains—He outshines them. What looks solid to us liquefies when His glory draws near. The same presence that filled Sinai, split the sea, and raised Christ from the dead is still active, still advancing, still unsettling what resists His reign.

Wax melts quietly. There is no explosion, no struggle—just surrender. The prophetic word here is that some things breaking in this season will not fall with noise, but with inevitability. Systems of pride, rebellion, injustice, and fear are losing their structure simply because the Lord is being enthroned again.

For the people of God, this is both comfort and commissioning. Comfort—
because the obstacles before you are already losing form. Commissioning—
because carriers of His presence are being sent into places where mountains must move. Worshipers will do what warriors could not. Intercessors will undo what legislation could not. The presence of the Lord is the strategy.

This verse also carries a warning: whatever is not aligned with the Lord cannot remain solid in His presence. But for those who love Him, this is good news. The melting is not destruction—it is preparation. God is reshaping the landscape for His Kingdom to be revealed.

Stand firm, not because the mountain is small, but because your God is present. And when He arrives, even the most immovable things melt like wax.

Prayer

Yahweh Elohim, Lord of the whole earth, we welcome Your presence. We
magnify You, Let every mountain opposing Your will melt before You.
Thank You for establishing Your Kingdom in our lives, our land, and our
hearts. We trust Your nearness to do what we cannot.

In the name of Your Son Jesus our savior we pray.
