July 15 — Who’s Your Daddy?: Sound Devotional, John 1:12
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."
John 1:12 Sound Devotional
Reflection
“Who’s your daddy?” is not a taunt—it’s a prophetic question. In the Kingdom, identity determines authority. Scripture makes it clear: you cannot live out of power if you are confused about paternity. Sons and daughters carry the nature, voice, and authority of their Father.
Jesus confronted this issue head-on when He told the Pharisees, “You are of your father the devil” (John 8:44). That wasn’t insult—it was revelation. Behavior reveals lineage. What we yield to gives us away. The spirit you agree with becomes the house you live from.
But John 1:12 announces a holy transfer. Through Christ, we are no longer defined by sin, fear, trauma, or generational patterns. We are adopted—legally, eternally, and lovingly—into the family of God. The Father didn’t just rescue us; He claimed us.
The prophetic word for this hour is this: Heaven is calling sons and daughters to stand up and act like they know whose they are. Orphans strive, sons rest. Slaves perform, daughters inherit. When you know the Father, you stop begging for what already belongs to you.
The enemy’s greatest strategy is identity theft. If he can keep you unsure of your Father, he can keep you unsure of your authority. But the Spirit of adoption is rising in the Church, crying out, “Abba, Father!” This cry breaks fear, silences accusation, and releases bold obedience.
So—who’s your Daddy? If God is your Father, then heaven backs you, grace covers you, and purpose marks you. Walk like it. Speak like it. Pray like it. Live like a son. Live like a daughter.
