September 8 — Rosh Hashanah— The Awakening of the King Psalm 81:3
“Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon,
At the full moon, on our solemn feast day.”
Psalm 81:3 Sound Devotional
Reflection
Rosh Hashanah arrives not quietly, but with sound. It is the Feast of Trumpets—Yom Teruah—a holy interruption in time where heaven commands the earth to wake up. The shofar is blown not for music, but for remembrance. It announces: the King is enthroned, the books are opened, and a new season has begun.
On the Hebrew calendar, Rosh Hashanah marks the head of the year—a prophetic reset. What governed the last season does not have to govern the next. This is a day of alignment, where time bends toward God’s purposes and hearts are called back into order. The trumpet blast cuts through spiritual fog, calling sleepers to rise and wanderers to return.
Prophetically, Rosh Hashanah is a summons. The sound of the shofar breaks complacency and restores reverence. It calls the watchmen to the walls, the priests to intercession, and the people to repentance—not from fear, but from awe. Heaven is not distant on this day; it is attentive.
Rosh Hashanah also opens the Days of Awe, a mercy-filled window where God invites His people to examine their ways and realign their paths before Yom Kippur. It is the kindness of the Lord to announce judgment with a trumpet rather than silence. The blast is both warning and welcome—turn now, and live.
In Christ, this feast echoes forward. The trumpet points to resurrection, to awakening, to the return of the King. It reminds the Church that we live between trumpet blasts—one that has already sounded and one that will shake the nations. Those who hear the sound and respond are positioned for life, authority, and clarity in the year ahead.
This is a day to crown the King again. To declare with your life that the Lord reigns over your time, your choices, your future. When the trumpet sounds and the heart bows, a new beginning is sealed.
Prayer
Father of the King of Glory, as the trumpet sounds, awaken our hearts. We crown You anew Lord Jesus as Lord over our lives and over eternity ahead. Search us O Lord, align us, and lead us into the fullness of Your purposes. We declare, this be a year ordered by Your voice and filled with Your presence.
In Your Holy name King of Glory, we pray.

“We crown You anew Lord Jesus as Lord over our lives and over eternity ahead.” Reaching forward in perfect confidence in Jesus’ Lordship over eternity ahead and brining that same confidence to bear over our lives in the now.
