September 3 — The Two Beginnings of the Year Exodus 12:2
““This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.”
Corinthians 10:4–5 Sound Devotional
Reflection
In the Hebrew calendar, God established two beginnings of the year, and this was not confusion—it was intention. Heaven often moves in layers. What appears as duplication is actually distinction. God was teaching His people how to live in both redemption and order, spirit and structure, calling and governance.
The first beginning is Nisan—the month of deliverance. This is the spiritual new year, birthed in Exodus, when Israel came out of bondage by the blood of the lamb. God reset time itself around redemption. He was saying: “Your story does not start with slavery. It starts with salvation.” Nisan governs identity, miracles, and forward movement. It marks when God initiates freedom and launches destiny.
The second beginning is Tishrei—the civil new year. This beginning aligns with creation, kingship, and accountability. It is the head of the year for cycles, harvests, and judgment. In Tishrei, God teaches His people stewardship—how to rule well what redemption has given them. If Nisan is about being set free, Tishrei is about reigning responsibly.
The Lord established two beginnings because His people are called to live redeemed and disciplined, delivered and aligned. One beginning awakens the heart; the other orders the life. Without Nisan, Tishrei becomes religious routine. Without Tishrei, Nisan becomes unmanaged fire.
The Lord says: “I begin you in mercy, and I establish you in order. I redeem you by My power, and I mature you by My wisdom. Do not choose one beginning and ignore the other. I am the God who brings you out—and the King who teaches you how to walk forward.”
In this season, the Spirit is inviting you to honor both beginnings. Let God deliver you again where chains linger. Let Him also realign your calendars, priorities, and decisions. When redemption and order meet, time itself comes into agreement with heaven.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for being the God of beginnings. Thank You, for
redeeming what needs deliverance in our lives, and bringing divine order where alignment is needed. Teach us O Lord to walk in freedom and steward what You have given us as well.
In Yeshua, Lion of Judah, we pray in Your name.
