September 26 — “The Unusual Act of the Lord” Isaiah 28:21
“For the LORD will rise up as at Mount Perazim,
He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon—
That He may do His work, His awesome work,
And bring to pass His act, His unusual act.”
Isaiah 28:21 Sound Devotional
Reflection
There are moments when God moves in ways that disrupt our categories. Isaiah calls it His unusual act—not because the Lord is unpredictable, but because He refuses to be contained by our expectations. When God rises, history remembers it.
Mount Perazim was the place of breakthrough, where the Lord broke through David’s enemies “like a breaking flood.” The Valley of Gibeon was the battlefield where the sun stood still and heaven intervened in time itself. Both moments declare this truth: when God stands up, natural order yields to divine purpose.
The unusual act of the Lord is often misunderstood because it does not look like previous deliverances. It may not follow familiar rhythms. It may offend religious comfort. Yet it always accomplishes righteousness. God’s anger here is not reckless wrath—it is holy resolve against what resists His redemptive will.
This verse speaks to a generation standing between old structures and new movements. God rises to dismantle false securities and to establish His kingdom reality. He does a strange work—strange to human wisdom, but glorious in outcome. What looks like disruption is actually divine alignment. What feels like shaking is preparation for glory.
If you sense the Lord rising in your life—through conviction, correction, or sudden change—do not fear. The same God who breaks through enemies also commands the sun to stand still on behalf of His people. His unusual act is never arbitrary; it is purposeful, precise, and powerful.
This is a season to yield, not resist. To watch, not strive. To trust that when God stands up, He is making room for breakthrough you could not engineer yourself.
Prayer
Lord, arise in our midst. Do Your work—even when it is unfamiliar to us. Align our hearts with Your purposes and give us discernment to recognize Your hand in the shaking. We yield to Your awesome and unusual acts, trusting that You are faithful in all You do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
