They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your
countenance”
Joel 2:15 Sound Devotional
Reflection
The Feast of Trumpets—Yom Teruah—is the day of the shout, the blast, the alarm that awakens heaven and earth. It is not a quiet holy day; it is a day of sound that shifts seasons. Teruah is a broken, urgent trumpet blast—a cry that calls sleepers to rise, watchmen to stand, and kings to remember their authority.
On the Hebrew calendar, Yom Teruah marks the turning of time. It announces a new year not with celebration alone, but with holy interruption. The shofar pierces routine and complacency, declaring that God is doing something new—and it requires attention. This is the mercy of God in sound form: wake up before you miss the moment.
Yom Teruah is both a warning and a welcome. It warns what is misaligned, but it welcomes repentance, return, and restoration. It is the sound that gathers the people, calls the armies, and signals the King’s presence. Scripture tells us that God Himself ascends with a shout. When the trumpet sounds, heaven moves.
Yom Teruah also opens the Days of Awe—a sacred window where destinies are examined and paths are corrected. But the trumpet sounds before the sealing, not after. Grace still speaks. The door is still open. The shout is an invitation to come into order while mercy reigns.
For the Church, Yom Teruah prophetically points to resurrection and return. The same sound that shook Sinai will one day shake the nations. Those who learn to recognize the trumpet now will not be confused when heaven speaks later. They know the sound of the King.
This is a day to listen carefully. To let the sound of God reset your inner rhythm. To respond not with fear, but with obedience. When the trumpet sounds and the heart answers, alignment is restored—and a new season begins.
Prayer
Our Father in Heaven, tune our ears to the sound of heaven. As the trumpet of Yom Teruah is lifted, awaken us from spiritual slumber and realign our hearts with Your purposes. We respond to Your call, we honor Your timing, and we step into the new season You have prepared with great thanksgiving.
Jesus, in Your name we lift up our shout!
