August 7th — When Jesus Stands: Sound Devotional, Acts 7:55–56

“But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, ‘Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!’”
Stephen’s death was not quiet in heaven. While stones were flying and hatred was raging on earth, Jesus did something unexpected—He stood up.
Scripture often shows Jesus seated at the right hand of the Father, the posture of finished work, royal authority, and rest after victory. But in Stephen’s final moments, Jesus rose to His feet. Heaven responded to martyrdom not with silence, but with honor.
This was not merely a vision for Stephen’s comfort—it was a prophetic announcement. When the righteous are misunderstood, falsely accused, and violently opposed for truth’s sake, Jesus stands as witness, advocate, and rewarder. He rises to receive what the world rejects.
Stephen preached with fire, exposed hardened hearts, and paid the ultimate price. Yet his death became a doorway. Saul was standing there that day—watching, consenting, listening. The blood of Stephen watered the soil of a future apostle. What looked like loss was actually multiplication.
This moment declares:
There are seasons when heaven stands up over the earth.
There are moments when faithfulness moves the King from His seat.
There are sacrifices that cause Christ Himself to rise in recognition.
If you are standing firm while being resisted…
If obedience has cost you reputation, relationships, or comfort…
If you feel crushed yet faithful—know this: Jesus is not indifferent. He stands.
He stands to welcome.
He stands to vindicate.
He stands to mark history with heaven’s approval.
And just like Stephen, when your eyes are fixed on glory, you will not see stones—you will see the Son of Man.
Prayer
Abba, Thank You, for opening our eyes to see You standing in moments of trial and cost. Thank You, for strengthening us to remain faithful even when the price is high. Grace our lives, like Stephen’s, release Your glory beyond our lifetime and awaken future generations to see Your truth through Your eyes. We receive Your nearness, Your honor, and Your victory.
