There are fires that destroy, and there is a fire that purifies. Scripture declares that our God is not merely like fire—He is a consuming fire. His presence burns with holy intention. He does not come to scorch the faithful, but to consume what cannot remain in His kingdom.
This fire is covenantal. It burned on Sinai, rested on the altar, and fell at
Pentecost. It does not flicker with human emotion; it blazes with divine purpose. When God draws near, mixture cannot survive. Fear, compromise, hidden idols, and self-reliance are exposed—not to shame you, but to free you.
The Lord is saying: “I am turning up the heat because I am drawing closer.” What feels uncomfortable is often what is being consumed. What feels intense is often what is being refined. His fire does not ask permission; it demands surrender—but it leaves you lighter, purer, and more aligned with heaven.
This is a season where God is igniting holy zeal again. Lukewarm devotion will not hold. Casual faith will not sustain. But hearts yielded to the flame will burn steadily, carrying light into dark places. The fire of God does not make you less human—it makes you more like Him.
Do not fear the fire. Step into it. What is of God will remain. What is not will be reduced to ash. And from that place, a clearer, stronger, more radiant witness will rise. The fire of God is never random or reckless. It is the careful work of a loving Refiner who watches over the process. What He removes, He removes with intention. What He preserves, He strengthens with glory. In the refining, He is not abandoning you—He is forming you, shaping a life that reflects His holiness and carries His presence with clarity.
Prayer
Consuming Fire, We yield to Your holy presence. Burn away what does not belong in us. Purify our hearts, refine our motives, and ignite fresh devotion within us. Thank You for Your fire making us clean, courageous, and consecrated for Your purposes. We receive Your refining work with trust and reverence. In the fiery name of Jesus our King, we pray.
